Dirk Kuyt’s testimonial will be filled to the brim with Liverpool and Holland legends

We’ve gotta admit, we absolutely love Dirk Kuyt.

The blonde bombshell is well remembered at Liverpool, where he became a bit of a cult hero over the years thanks to the number of important goals he scored.

That includes seven during their superb 2007–08 Champions League campaign, a hat-trick against bitter rivals Man United and an extra time strike at Wembley in the 2012 League Cup final against Cardiff.

He’s adored in Holland too, eventually returning to Feyenoord in 2015, duly scoring a hat-trick in his last ever game at the end of last season to secure the Rotterdam-based club their first league title since 1999.

And of course, much-loved players like him get a testimonial match, with Kuyt’s farewell appearance happening in May.

And you wouldn’t believe the plethora of legends that want to take part.

According to De Telegraaf, three teams will play that day, which include a mixture of the current and former Feyenoord stars, a selection of Orange players from the 2010 World Cup squad and a special group known only as  ‘Friends of Dirk’ – which is mainly a team of players from Liverpool, Utrecht and Fenerbahce.

So far, it looks like Kuyt’s former Feyenood teammates Thomas Buffel, Patrick Lodewijks, Rick Karsdorp, Salomon Kalou (we completely forgot he played for Feyenood) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will all take part.

From Liverpool, there’s Jerzy Dudek, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard. There’s even rumours Luis Suarez will make an appearance.

But we’re mostly excited to see the likes of Phillip Cocu, Rafael van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Nigel de Jong, Arjen Robben, Edwin van der Sar and even Frank de Boer take part.

So yeah, pretty much every Dutch player you loved 10 years ago.
