We saw James McClean ask this week for West Brom fans not to label their players ‘snakes’ when they inevitably leave this summer.
But it’s a very different story in the Bundesliga.
FC Koln have been rooted to the bottom of the table all season and were officially relegated to the German second tier last weekend.

Yet they still managed to beat Arsenal in the Europa League.
But just when you might expect a mass exodus from a relegated club, their two best players have instead committed their long term futures by signing new contracts.
Despite interest from a number of top German clubs, both left back Jonas Hector and goalkeeper Timo Horn have agreed new deals and will play in Bundesliga 2 next season.

Hector is likely to start for Germany at this summer’s World Cup while Horn is tipped to rival Marc-Andre Ter Stegen as Manuel Neuer’s long-term successor between the sticks.
And Horn emphasised the club spirit after they were consigned to the drop last weekend: “Of course today is really bitter for us.
“But I can promise you one thing: we will most certainly be coming back.”

“The supporters’ behaviour can’t be put into words. We are going into the second division as a unit.”
Just when you thought you were losing all faith in footballers, a couple surprise you with a refreshing show of commitment like this.
