And there’s no denying some players just haven’t repaid our faith in the way we imagined.

Not everyone can be a Mohamed Salah or Raheem Sterling type success story, with a number of high profile players falling from grace dramatically.
So who statistically have been the most disappointing of the lot?
Well, according to our metric of largest Dream Team price falls from the start of the season to current date, these losers are the top 10…
1 Alvaro Morata – Down £2.4m (£5m – £2.6m)

Chelsea moved for Morata after prime target Romelu Lukaku snubbed a return to Stamford Bridge for Man United.
He started well but the Spaniard has faded drastically over the course of the season, scoring just one Premier League goal since Boxing Day.
2= Alexis Sanchez – Down £2.3m (£7.7m – 5.2m)

Last season’s top Dream Team points scorer has got nowhere near those standards this time around.
His performance in the Manchester derby at the weekend aside, Sanchez has generally been a huge disappointment and has managed less than half the points he racked up in 2016/17.
2= Manolo Gabbiadini – Down £2.3m (£3.5m – 1.2m)

Gabbiadini’s instant impact at Southampton last season looks like a real flash in the pan.
The former Napoli man has continued the rotten luck of Italians in the Premier League, scoring just four goals all season with the Saints in real danger of the drop.
4 Michael Keane – Down £2.2m (£4m – £1.8m)

Keane was a rock at Burnley – at Everton he’s been anything but.
Like the rest of the Toffees’ side he’s been a huge disappointment after their £200m summer transfer window, with his chances of making England’s World Cup squad now incredibly slim.
5 Yaya Toure – Down £2.1m (£4m – £1.9m)

Remember him? Yaya is still knocking about at City but his influence is so reduced nowadays he barely makes the bench under Pep Guardiola.
Long gone are the days Toure was a fantasy football must, managing a paltry six points all season.
6 Gabriel Jesus – Down £1.8m (£5m – £3.2m)

Well what do we have here? Jesus is widely regarded as one of the brightest young things on the planet, but his fantasy stats just don’t quite live up to the billing.
The City slicker has managed a not so slick 104 points this season – less than defensive midfield team-mate Fernandinho.
7 Thibaut Courtois – Down £1.7m (£4.5m – £2.8m)

The first of FOUR Chelsea players in our list, Courtois hasn’t been able to replicate his clean sheet record from their title-winning season last campaign.
In fact, the Belgian is just two goals short of his entire season tally of 33 with six games remaining.
8= Cesc Fabregas – Down £1.6m (£4m – £2.6m)

The Spaniard was central to Chelsea’s title success last season but his flitted in and out of much more inconsistent Blues outfit this year.
Fabregas just doesn’t have the influence he used to have and has fallen well short of the 12 Premier League assists he produced last season.
8= Pedro – Down £1.6m (£4m – £2.6m)

Rinse and repeat for another one of Chelsea’s Spanish contingent.
Pedro has been overshadowed by Eden Hazard and Willian’s performances and can no longer be considered a decent wildcard option anymore.
9= Gary Cahill – Down £1.6m (£5.5m – £3.9m)

Last season’s second highest scoring defender has been a shadow of his former self, with both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger ahead of him in the pecking order.
Cahill’s England hopes are also lying in tatters after the emergence of James Tarkowski, Harry Maguire and Alfie Mawson this season.
