Tim Sherwood thinks it’s easier to play for Bayern Munich than Swansea

It’s only a matter of time until Spurs build a statue of Tim Sherwood outside their new stadium.

He is, of course, the man who discovered, nurtured and single-handedly reared Harry Kane.

In the meantime Sherwood is busy making controversial statements in his role as a pundit.

Take this one, for example.

Sherwood was speaking on Renato Sanches’ form since his much-publicised loan move from Bayern Munich.

Never one to sit on the fence, Sherwood said: “If this boy put these performances on, not just today, but since he’s been at the football club, if that was a kid from the academy, you would never, ever see him again.

“You would never, ever see him again.”

Wouldn’t get in Tim’s teamReuters

A bit strong. But even the biggest Swansea fan wouldn’t argue with Sherwood when it comes to Sanches’ underwhelming displays this season.

Sherwood wasn’t done there though.

He claimed: “Let’s be right, it is easier to play for Bayern Munich than it is for Swansea City struggling in the Premier League.

“Bayern Munich, lesser competition, world-class players around you, we can all look a decent player.”

Not as good as SwanseaKOP1

This is a Bayern team that Douglas Costa, Mario Gotze and Xherdan Shaqiri couldn’t get into in recent seasons.

Sanches is now competing with Leon Britton, Sam Clucas and Leroy Fer rather than Arturo Vidal, Thiago and James Rodriguez.

So the idea that playing for Bayern is easier than Swansea doesn’t sit particularly well with us.

But hey, what do we know?
